What you need: Cat ears and a strong piece of thread that wont break from pulling at it.

To get a nice pointy cat ear, this is what I do.

Put two cat ear pieces right sides together and start sewing up one side of the ear, from the bottom to the tip of the ear.

Stop before the turn and lift the presser foot.

Now, place a thread in front of the needle, between the two layers of fabric.

Pull the thread backwards so that the next stitch you make will be over the thread.

Turn the ear 45 degrees put the presser foot down and make 1 stitch. The thread is now caught between two stitches.

Lift the presser foot and take the right end of the thread and pull it to the inside of the ear so that it is together with the other end of the thread. You want to have both ends of the thread on the inside of the ear.

Turn the ear so that you can continue to sew along the other side of the ear.

Trim the SA and turn the ear right side out. Poke it out as much as you can with your fingers before you pull on the threads. Take both ends of the thread and and pull the tip of the ear out, and like magic, you’ll have a nice pointy ear. I'm using canvas here so this is as pointy as it is going to get. If you use a thinner fabric you'll have less bulk in the corner.

Just pull the thread out and use it for the next ear. Press the ears, and if you wish you can use a small piece of stabilizer inside of the ear.

You can decorate the ears with some htv or embroidery.

Or perhaps your cat has pierced ears!
